Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Huddle collects, why, and the choices you have. Huddle is built for parents. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, we don’t run analytics, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
1. Who we are
Huddle is operated by Teddy Mutterperl, doing business as TRM Labs (“we,” “us”). The iPhone app is Huddle: Family Sports & Events, bundle ID com.trmlabs.huddle.
Huddle is currently available only in the United States.
Mailing address: Teddy Mutterperl d/b/a TRM Labs, Demarest, NJ, United States
Email: huddleapp@mail.grokbot.com
Website: https://gethuddle.netlify.app
2. Scope
This policy covers the Huddle iPhone app and related services we operate for it (account, sync, push notifications, and SMS sign-in), and this website.
This website is hosted on Netlify. Netlify keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for visitors. We do not set cookies or use trackers on this site.
This policy does not cover third-party team calendar feeds you paste in, Apple services under Apple’s own policies, or other websites.
3. What we collect and why
We collect information to run Huddle for your family — calendars, rides, alerts, and adult chats. Everything in the table below is collected and linked to your account, for App Functionality only. We do not use it for tracking (as Apple defines tracking), ads, analytics, or selling data.
Mapped to Apple’s App Privacy types as declared for Huddle (verified against build 14):
| Type | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Display name; name from Sign in with Apple if you share it | App Functionality |
| Email Address | Email from Sign in with Apple (may be Hide My Email) | App Functionality |
| Phone Number | Phone sign-in via SMS | App Functionality |
| Physical Address | Family home, adult workplaces, and carpool pickup addresses you save — stored on the server | App Functionality |
| Coarse Location | The town or ZIP code you enter | App Functionality |
| Emails or Text Messages | In-app chat messages (and SMS only as needed for auth codes) | App Functionality |
| Photos or Videos | Kid and adult profile photos, and chat photos you choose | App Functionality |
| Audio Data | Voice messages you send in chat | App Functionality |
| Other User Content | Kid profiles (first name, color, birth year or optional full birthday), events, calendar-feed URLs, RSVPs, rides, seats, pickup codes, scores, share-day cards, Huddle Assistant posts | App Functionality |
| User ID | Account ID; Sign in with Apple subject | App Functionality |
| Device ID | Push notification and Live Activity tokens (not IDFA) | App Functionality |
We do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA). We do not show a tracking permission prompt for cross-app tracking. We do not sell personal information. We do not use third-party analytics or third-party crash reporting. We do not show ads.
Sign-in
You can Sign in with Apple or continue with a phone number verified by SMS. Parents hold accounts; kids do not.
Calendar feeds
When you paste an ICS or webcal link, we use it to show games and practices. Calendar links are private: we store them securely, use them only to read the schedule, and never show them in full. We do not ask for passwords to other services. We are not affiliated with those team apps.
4. Location
Precise location stays on the device. Leave-by and route math run on the driving adult’s iPhone with Apple Maps / MapKit when you allow location. We do not collect precise location into your account on our servers.
Your location is used only to work out drive times, on your iPhone. Permission is While Using the App. Background location is not used in v1. Weather shown in the app comes from Apple WeatherKit for the venue’s location, not your precise location.
Pushes to other people do not include leave-by or route times. Coarse location may be stored as described in the table above. Precise location is not used for ads, analytics, or tracking.
5. Carpool addresses
Physical addresses you save — family home, adult workplaces, and carpool pickup places — may be stored on the server so leave-by and rides can work.
- A rider’s pickup address is available to the driver only when that rider has an approved seat.
- Before a seat is approved, only your own family sees your pickup address.
- When the seat ends or the ride is canceled or completed, that shared pickup address access is dropped for that ride.
Venue and field addresses on events come from the calendar feed or from what you enter.
6. What other people see
Members of a chat see your name, photo, bio, messages, RSVPs and your kids’ first names on that team. Your family sees everything in the family. A driver’s family sees your kid’s pickup address only once the seat is approved, and only until pickup or half an hour into the game. When you drive, the time you’ll reach each kid is shared with that kid’s family.
7. Chats, photos, and messages
Team and family chats are adults only, invite-only. Photos you pick for a profile or chat, and voice messages you send, are stored to show them to members of that space.
You can Report content or Block a person in the app. Reports are reviewed by us. See Support for how reporting works, and our Terms of Use for the rules.
Huddle Assistant posts schedule changes, rides, and items that need you in your family thread. Posts in your family thread are private to your family. Its cards in team chats (rides, Who’s coming, team changes) are seen by that chat’s members.
8. Alerts
When Huddle sends a push alert (for example, that a game moved), the words of that alert are not kept on our servers after the alert is sent.
9. Kids’ information and COPPA
Huddle is for adults. The service is directed at parents and caregivers, not children under 13.
Kids have no accounts and do not sign in. A parent creates a kid profile with a first name, a color, and a birth year or optional full birthday (and optionally a photo). That information is controlled by the parent’s family account. Kids’ first names are visible to other families in shared team chats (for example, Who’s coming and ride cards).
Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Information about a child is provided by a parent or guardian for family scheduling. Parents can edit or delete kid profiles in the app, and can delete the family account as described below.
If you believe we have collected a child’s information inappropriately, contact us at huddleapp@mail.grokbot.com.
10. Service providers
We use companies that process data on our behalf to run Huddle:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and backend storage
- Twilio — SMS for phone sign-in (and related auth messages)
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, Apple Push Notifications, MapKit / Apple Maps, and WeatherKit (weather shown with Apple Weather attribution)
- Netlify — hosting for this website (standard server logs only)
These providers process data under their terms and only as needed to provide their services to us. We do not allow them to use Huddle data for their own advertising. We do not use third-party analytics or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.
11. Retention and deletion
How long we keep data depends on what it is:
- Chat messages until they’re unsent or the account is deleted
- Pickup addresses until pickup, or half an hour into the game
- Alert text until it’s sent
- Calendar links until they’re removed
- Reports for up to 12 months to handle them and keep Huddle safe
Everything else (your account, family, kids’ profiles, photos, addresses and schedules) is kept while your account is active and deleted as described below.
Copies may remain briefly in our providers’ systems before they’re overwritten.
You can delete your account in the app: Family › Delete Account. If you’re your family’s only parent, deleting your account deletes the family, its kids’ profiles, teams, calendar links and schedule. If another parent remains, you leave the family and it stays with them. Messages you sent are erased from every chat. Abuse reports are kept for up to 12 months to keep Huddle safe, even after an account is deleted.
You can also request deletion by emailing huddleapp@mail.grokbot.com.
12. Security
We use industry-standard protections: encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest on our servers, plus access controls so only chat members can read a chat under our rules.
Chats are not end-to-end encrypted. Our systems (and infrastructure providers acting for us) can access message content as needed to operate the service, enforce safety (including Report), and comply with law. Do not treat Huddle chat as end-to-end encrypted messaging.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a device passcode and keep your sign-in credentials private.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to appeal a decision. Huddle does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
California (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents may request to know, delete, or correct personal information, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those allowed for providing the service. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To exercise rights, email huddleapp@mail.grokbot.com. We may need to verify your identity. We respond to requests within 45 days.
14. Do Not Track
Huddle doesn’t track you across other sites or apps, so it doesn’t change its behavior when your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
15. Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll change the effective date above and, when changes are material, provide additional notice in the app or by email when we have an address. If we make a material change to how we use information we already have, we’ll ask for your consent in the app first.
